Default Afghan Protestors Removed from St Patrick's Cathedral

RTÉ are reporting that the Afghan hunger strikers who have been occupying St Patrick's Cathedral since last weekend have been removed by Gardaí. The minors have been transferred to the custody of the HSE, while the remainder are in Garda custody.
RTÉ reports that the protestors did not leave voluntarily, but did not resist their removal.

    Yay, up the Socialists!
(I take your ommision of "Socialists" from the above-quoted hurrah to mean that you do not feel a victory was had over them, splendid)

It was a victory over probably most Socialists except maybe of the Rabbitte variety though I dunno.

Now they know we are not to be trifled with!

Interesting to note that when it went to the wire this lot allowed themselves to be led out like lambs.

What happened to all these so called determined men who were going to jump with ropes around their necks?

Looks like the whole thing was one big spoof, backed on the outside by the RAR and it's fellow travellers.

Well done ye, Catalpa, FutureTaoiseach, etc. you've achieved a real victory today. We owe a great debt to people like ye who aren't afraid to get out and make a stand, to get out there and belittle and insult vulnerable people when no-one else is brave enough to do it. Molaim sibh

Well at least it ended peacefully. Now the whinging and the crowing begins. So will RAR and the other fringe elements continue to support them or will they find a new cause du jour? I just find the whole thing to be a remarkably cynical exploitation. Though once the Taliban stuff surfaced, it seemed to become rather difficult to sustain what little public sympathy that the protest had.
