Thread: Sinn Fein MEPs, the worst in the European Parliament

  1. #1

Default Sinn Fein MEPs, the worst in the European Parliament

A new website rates the attendance record of MEPs. The best from this country is DeRossa and (by far) the worst is Mary Lou McDonald of SF, who is the only one of our MEPs to be below the international average.

Of the three from Northern Ireland, Jim Allister ranks 24th, Jim Nicholson 35th and Bairbre de Brún 57th.

You muppet she was recently voted MEP of the year, by her fellow parlimentarians. De Rossa may have an attendance rate equal to the E.U. chamber lampshade, but he is a useless MEP from Ireland's point of view. Nutty thread.

    Oh, puhlease.
Once again, your SF golden girls have been revealed as non-attending expenses grabbers in Brussels.

Oh now, we're being too harsh. Why should McDonald's parliamentary duties be allowed to interfere with her peace-keeping, pouting, and publicity career here at home?

Mary Lou McDonald was actually voted Best MEP (in the area of employment) by her fellow MEPs. High praise. They are likely to be a more informed and less partial judge than KeithM who has not a record of praising Sinn Féin reps.

Sinn Féin reps are noted for their much harder work on the ground than other parties, as well their effective performances in parliaments/councils and as Ministers in the Six County Government, and yet still only take home the AIW for their hard work.

Ultimately the electorate decide - and here the record speaks for itself : Sinn Féin has increased its share of the vote at each and every like for like election in the 26 counties since the 1980s.

Hardly impartial. Voted most popular in class by other snouts in the trough? Well done on such quick integration into the gravy train.
I'd say that the factual assessment of their attendance functions as a much more impartial examination of performance, actually.

By who? By you? Spouting rhetoric don't make it so.

Oh, my sides are splitting here. Effective performances? Where? They've been abysmal in the North. I cite as examples the water charges u-turn and the education policy black hole not t o mention proposing charges on the poor, elderly and vulnerable.
As for the Average Industrial Wage fiction, I repeat my call here for PSF to prove this assertion by opening their books to demonstrate contributions to the party by all of their elected members. Gerry didn't get those holiday homes on the AIW, mate.

Indeed, the electorate do decide. And what did they decide last time? They decided to deny Mary Lou a seat and reduce the number of PSF TDs. Expect similar in the North next time around.

They're either non-attending or expenses grabbers, you can't have it both ways
