    Fine.
Let them work away in their junior ministeries.
But do it on the current TD salary + expense package.
Show a bit of example to the country.

And cut the exchequer funding for constituency workers, the juniors, including Carey, each have a half dozen plus of these. The state is just funding the re-election of junior ministers. This in my mind is the biggest and most disgraceful perk for the junior ministers.

Its fine for a knee-jerk reaction in times of recession but would the country survive without

Maire Hoctor - junior minister for not reading autocues

Sean Haughey - junior minister for pictures with school buses

Dick Roche - junior minister for losing referenda

Id prefer teachers to be sacked, cancer care cut and taxes increased rather than lose any of these dynamic influences on Irish society.
I believe that children are the future

    Unless we stop them now.

I seriously doubt that any Junior Minister or even Cabinet Member would give up their position willingly if there was no extra remuneration for being in Government, most politicians from all political parties are in politics for the opportunity to exercise the power associated with being in Government rather than any extra pay with a few notable exceptions recently.
