    Default Best Winter Olympics moment?

There are so many to pick from, the Miracle on Ice, Bolero in Sarajevo '84, Eddie the Eagle in Galgary, but surely the greatest Winter Olympics moment was the GB ice hockey team winning gold in Germany in '36. Any other nominations?

David Coleman's commentary on the opening ceremony at Lillehammer which seemed to go on for ever and featured loads of trolls popping up from out of the snow.

Also His Lordship Clifton Hugh Lancelot de Verdin Wrottesley's brave 4th place finish for Ireland in the Skeleton in Utah.

Those Norwegians love their trolls. His Lordship Clifton Hugh Lancelot de Verdin Wrottesley, one of Dublin's and Eton's finest, did extremely well in Salt Lake. It is a pity that he's a bit too old for Turin.

He has Edinburgh University and Sandhurst too on a most impressive CV. What a role model to have this pedigree and yet excel in such a white-knuckle sport. Into the polo too apparently.

Yes, an excellent Irish role model, as against those thugs in the bogball last weekend.

We need to bring through similar stock for when we stage the games in 2026.
