    Default Is Joschka Fischer finished?

Schroeder's Government Falls in Poll on Unemployment, Fischer
    March 2 (Bloomberg)

-- Support for German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder's coalition fell as unemployment rose to the highest since World War II and the opposition called on Green party Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer to resign, a poll found.

What a non-issue. The SPD are at their highest level of public support since the 2002 election (which they would have lost were it not for Scroeder's refusal to back Bush's war). Schroeder's welfare reform policies seem to be gaining some measure of public support, which should hopefully combat the abominable unemployment rate.

It's disappointing the Greens are down even one per cent but if this Bloomberg article is to be believed (always a risky strategy) it's not that surprising and they should recover. Even at 8%, they're one of the strongest Green parties in Europe.

Anyone who ever saw JF's speech to the Bundesrat on why Germany had to help in the liberation of Kosovo (No more Auschwitzes!) should regard him as a great European and a great humanitarian.

I wish our greens were as good as him!

    I vote nein.

We don't like impersonation around these parts, Joschka I've had to edit the thread title, too.

I know the real JF well enough to state that he would never ask in public about his own resignation. Too much ego.
Best thing he can do now is try to make amends for his visa directive screw-up. The Germans tend to be mature enough to appreciate a politician making up for his mistakes.

Who said he has to go?

AFAIK, he's free to go on calling himself Joschka. It's just that thread titles like "Am I finished" can cause confusion.

Especially to delicate minds like that of CJH. Look, his little head was spinning...
