A sub-contractor was reportedley ordered by the Government to seal a number of "lagoons" containing huge amounts of toxic by-products rather than removing the material for disposal. He also accused the department of the Environment of a cover-up to conceal the health risks that the waste poses.
Presumably Gormless is too busy saving the planet form "Co2" and pushing the Green "program for government" instead of dealing with reality and the environment.
Todays Examiner claims that the waste originating from the old Irish Ispat steel plant on the island contains the highly toxic chemical Chromium 6.
Nice one this, Hexavalent Chromium (Cr(VI)), causes cancer and is the same material against which US activist and (rememeber the movie?) Erin Brockovich campaigned.
The Dept. of the Environment, the EPA and Cork County Council are being accused of trying to cover up the amount of hazardous waste buried at the site
Will Gormless get the sack or should he get the sack over this scandal?
