Educated the people, feed the hungry, bought medical care to the sick and gave children who had no chance of a life with their parents the opportunity to go to America and live in stable homes with money love and two parents.

What checks were performed on suitability of the purchasing families? Letter from their local parish priest saying they were catholics of good standing?

Which probably meant as much in the US as it did in Ireland.

Or perhaps I should have said 'background cheques' as the nuns were quite sharp about canvassing donations from said well-heeled American families over the years after they'd bought their kid.

A sort of subtle blackmail. The worry would have been in the minds of the receiving family in the states about upsetting the sales-nuns in Ireland where all the i's were not dotted and t's crossed in terms of normal adoption process.

It still was a much better life than anything they could have had in Ireland.

Love how you failed to mention the rest of the good work done in education and medical needs.

There were benefits for the church in securing cartels in those corners as well you know. It was hardly a philanthropic motive.

Yes and murdered thousands amd millions without blinking and finished them off by sending the up the chimney.
That is what the Lourdes does now.
Gets rid of the inconvenient and disabled.
That is what happens when society looses its humanity.
Ravaging liberalism is Irelands new modern version of the intolerant RCC of the 1950's.

Agree with name change. Not suitable for a publicly funded State hospital.

NAMED AND SHAMED ... Among the places that have already required renaming are Savile's View in Scarborough and the Savile's Hall centre in Leeds - renamed New Dock Hall.

Well Werner Von Braun did okay out of it but I think that was the US OSS rather than the catholic church on that occasion. The Church were running quite an international export business. The church in Rome specialised in issuing documents for nazis on the run- documents which gave them an introduction to the Red Cross in Geneva as refugees from where they were able to get new passports and clear off to Bolivia sharpish.

No one knows yet how much the church Travel Service charged for that service or whether it was a philanthropic gesture to the jew-killers.
