Following the huge support for repealing the 8th amendment, the government is pressing ahead with provision of liberalised abortion services in Ireland and available by January next year.
One of the more interesting points under discussion is the establishment of "safe zones".
Sad that such things are needed, but given the antics of some of the anti-abortion campaigners I think it's very important that such provisions be included. It also signals that clearly a lot of thought is going into this.areas around premises where abortion services are provided where patients and staff can go without fear of intimidation or harassment, and without being subjected to posters or protests.
It seems everyone is fairly confident these batshít cases won't succeed.Despite bringing this legislation to Cabinet, it can not be enacted until two applications to block the result of the referendum are dealt with in the courts. It is the Government’s intention to make this health service available in Ireland in January 2019.
