It seems as if Italy has had enough of African migrants trying to reach its shores and has decided that Malta should take its fair share.
Indeed on a recent trip to Malta I was of the opinion that there was not a very big immigrant population on the Island. http://https://www.timesofmalta.com/...ee-days.681395
Its been said that migrant ships refuse help from Maltese ships because once in Malta, travel becomes difficult to Northern Europe. Why should either Italy or Malta feel obliged to take undocumented migrants in their ports? Maybe it's just a case of the EU taking a lax approach to its borders when it chooses.
