Default You don't need a Cheddar Man to know which way the wind blows

Dna analysis of Cheddar man, a skeleton discovered in Cheddar Gorge, Somerset just over a century ago and dating back some 10,000 years shows that this early British population had lack skin and blue eyes and originated somewhere in the Middle East. Some 10% of the current population of the country are descended from these early settlers.

Surely it occurs even to the dim witted that any humans in Britain in 10,000 BC were descendants of people who lived in the rest of Northern Europe as the last Ice Age came to an end

The climate would have been harsh, brutal and COLD

If these people really did have a darker skin than what's left of the White British population today

    - then it was as a result of weathering and living in a cold wind swept environment

    - and not because they got so much Sun that had blackened their skins or that of their immediate ancestors

I don't know about the cheese

    - but some of these PC conclusions

    - are taking the Biscuit!

Maybe the transition from black skin to white skin has something to do with the lack of sunlight in these northern countries, and the consequential evolutionary advantage for light skinned people when it comes to vitamin d production.

Apart from Guardian's ugly race-baiting, there is little new here.

We are forced to accept that mass-going, GAA watching Celts are not the aboriginal inhabitants of Ireland and should fück off to where they came from.

That's a rather grotesque rationale, if indeed it can be called such. It has to be obvious that people originating in warmer climes had darker skin, which, over time became fairer for the reasons you state. Not the other way round, which you posit.

Anyway, just look at the Brits on the Costas when they get a bit of sun and you'll see many turning a very dark tan, clear evidence of African ancestors, while Paddy in contrast turns tomato red, wherever the hell we came from.
FF will support, oppose or turn a blind eye only according to what will advance its return to ministerial office.
