Default “Comedian” Al Porter accused of sexual harrassment

The Times Ireland today reports that four men have accused Al Porter, who has a show on Today FM and presents Blind Date on TV3, of being a sex pest. The men allege that Porter grabbed their crotches and/or buttocks. One said that his behaviour is an “open secret” in Irish comedy circles.

I haven’t seen any reference to this story so far on RTE or other news sources. The silence is notable, especially given the blanket coverage given to the much less serious allegations against Michael Colgan or, in a different context, Barry Walsh.

How is it notable? It was in the newspaper today. What do you expect people to run with ? "A newspaper has made claims from anonymous sources against a known individual. We've no idea if they're real. We haven't talked to the sources. No police involvement at all. No comment from anyone. Uuuh can't show you the article's text because it's copyrighted. Uuuuh...."
I'm living in America, and in America, you're on your own. America's not a country. It's just a business. Now f***ing pay me.

Given that porter has a radio show, will the pitchfork crowd be back out trying to get him the bullet

I'm sure that I've had my crotch grabbed by men and women, alike, over the years. Uninvited.

I guess context is everything...if it was in work I might have thought something of it, but it was on social occasions, so it didn't bother me.

    Yeah

So a straight man's grabbing a woman by the crotch *could* be acceptable, yeah?

    The "silence is notable"?

The story literally broke less than 24 hours ago. And I'll bet you this thread will run longer than any of the others.

But hey, have fun implying what we both know you're implying.
