Thread: President Trump in China and Vietnam

Default President Trump in China and Vietnam

    Mr Nice Guy?
Many presidents are glad to get away from 'the land of the free', about mid-term, and stride the world with dignity and protocol, meeting people whose expectations of getting anything from the White House are very low indeed.
Has anyone else thought the bullying, fire-breathing demagoging Trump actually turns out to be keen to please in a one-on-one situation? eg the fulsome personal warmth to Xi Jinping, and on other occasions to President Macron, President Nieto etc ; persons he had previously announced to be ideological adversaries.

At least in Da Nang, unlike Presidents John Kerry and John McCain ( had they been elected), Trump won't have the embarrassment of regaling his hosts with stories of 'the last time I came through here' [on a Zippo raid with the Green Berets], as he wisely stayed Stateside during the sixties getting several draft deferments as a student.

Brexit comes straight from hell. Everywhere it goes it causes disharmony, turbulence and misery. I think Brexiteers themselves must have some form of mental illness.

I think we can safely say if Hunter S Thomspon were alive he would say "Trump is a cu*t"

A reminder of what he thought of Nixon should give you a clue just how much he would have viscerally despised the current incumbent

I beat him like a mad dog with mange every time I got a chance, and I am proud of it. He was scum.

John Kerry was a leader of American vets against the Vietnam war. He did his war service, and then campaigned against the Vietnam war- to very good effect. John McCain was a POW. It is true though that both would have had difficulties if they had to go to Vietnam though in official capacity.
On the positive for them : they both had credibility with the US armed forces and it's veterns.

Wasn't Trump a draft dodger using his fathers wealth to fake some foot injury?

Staggering naivete on a biblical scale

Not only should the US totally believe Putin but they are "insulting him" by even suggesting he would do such a thing.
How can a man who would win Olympic gold for lying, be so stupid as to take anything Putin says at face value?

This entire trip has been characterised by Nations seizing on Trump's incredible stupidity and naivete for the most basic of ploys, faux flattery.
