Default Science fiction books with political themes

Here I thought I'd set the ball rolling on high quality science fiction books that have a significant political element, as such books that could be recommended to a political theory student.

    Two to start with

    1. The Star Fraction by Ken MacLeod This really is a book brimming full of political philosophy. The author's sympathies are with the libertarian left though he does a damn fine job of expounding a polycentric society whereby different "nations" overlap in the same geographic space.
    2. Peace on Earth by Stanislaw Lem This is perhaps more for students of Kissinger and International Relations but is a satire on military aggression and the ludicrous nature of competing nation states

So what about you, did any Sci-Fi books awaken you and enrich you politically ?

H.G Wells has some stuff nicely disguised.

"the time machine" gets into socialism/communism towards the end.

    and

"war of the worlds" is basically all about imperialism, but from the viewpoint of the invaded.

I really enojoyed that book, very polemical and I think a little unfair to social engineering.

In fact so polemical/strong that it almost opened and settled the issue in one fell swoop !

Is that the one David lynch made a film with spectacular visuals about? I remember liking the film.
