Default Ireland supports EC approvals for GMOs

1 of only 3 EU countries that does. Whither the "Green" party's "green" credentials now?

Gosh. Did the Irish government support the current EU GMO approval procedure before the current coalition?

Were there Greens in it? How many EU govts with Greens in them do you suppose support the framework as it exists now? How many Green Parties in the EU support the framework as it exists now?

This title is phrased in a way which is open to misinterpretation.

"Ireland supports current system of EU biotech approval" would be better.

"Nineteen EU member states have requested opt-outs for all or part of their territory from cultivation of a Monsanto genetically-modified crop, which is authorized to be grown in the European Union, the European Commission said on Sunday."

"The 19 requests are from Austria, Belgium for the Wallonia region, Britain for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany (except for research), Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland and Slovenia."
"Better a cruel truth than a comfortable delusion."
