Default Is Minister Deenihan using a cudgel to make some of Irelands artists actually work?

Its refreshing to see a Labour and Fg minister for once putting the boot into the Irish arts community.

My own view is that its time all artists in receipt of public funds were indeed obligated to do real payback.

One professor Ciaran Benson writing in the last Sunday Business Post complains about Irish Ministers Deenihan and Quinn creating an Orwellian climate for Irish artists.

Bensons complaint is based upon an objection to the Irish taxpayer imposing a mandate on Irish artists in receipt of state funding to give a public service dividend by way of return.
He says only artist are being obliged to donate such a dividend and they are being singled out.

He moans because Irelands arts community in receipt of massive public funding are actually for once going to be made do some real work for the taxpayers who fund their lifestyle.

I am unable to access the article from Professor Benson as its worth a read for the sheer whinge value alone.
I would appreciate if any other poster could do so.

Here are some links to relevant publications on the matter

Repeal the thirty-fourth amendment of the Irish constitution :

Surely you didn't need to be told?

So your first input is to try derail the thread with an ad hominem attack on the poster who posts an OP.
