    Default #VINB Thur 16/5/2013: Women in poverty

    … on air at 23.08 tonight. Details are not from tv3

    Pauline Conroy, Social scientist Ralaheen Research and Design
    Rita Fagan, Community Activist http://www.theatreclub.ie/spectacle/
    Louise Bayliss, SPARK https://twitter.com/Louiseinflight

    OK boys, no sniggering or booing at the back. This is serious. Women’s issues. Something we should all have an interest in. And here tonight on #VINB to tell us about the latest from the Countess Markievicz School are Dr Pauline Conroy and Rita Fagan [maybe even Clare Daly again] and to chat to Vinny. Probably not the most riveting of tv shows, but nonetheless an important issue for society. So, quieten down …

    Established in 2011, the Countess Markievicz School is a forum on women in Ireland inspired by Ireland's first female MP and first Cabinet Minister in Europe. On the occasion of the Lockout Centenary 1913 - 2013, the School will look at Women in Poverty Then and Now;
    Living Conditions: 1913-2013; Moving Forward: Achieving Equality for Women. Speakers include:
    Dr. Pauline Conroy;
    Mary Murphy (NUIM);
    Oliver Williams (Modern Day Soup Kitchens);
    Clare Daly, TD;
    Catriona Crowe (National Archives);
    Graham Usher (Priory Hall);
    Rita Fagan (Community Activist);
    Niall Crowley (Equality Consultant);
    Ethel Buckley (SIPTU);
    Justine McCarthy (Sunday Times).

    This will be interesting.
    The truth of an idea is not a stagnant property inherent in it. Truth happens to an idea. It becomes true, is made true by events.

    An hour of women whinging non stop about everything and anything and outdoing each other to say how much victims they all are , I am sure most people get enough of that at home without TV3 beaming it in to their front room as well.
