Default Lisdoonvarna Match Making Festival Welcomes Gays

The Lisdoonvarna Match Making Festival is inviting gays for the first time in its 150 year history. This is surely a very positive sign that LGBT people are being accepted by the wider community. I also feel it's an important step in removing the illusion that the Irish LGBT community is Dublin centric. Anyone been to it? Anyone oppose the move - and if so why? I might even go and find myself a nice farmer ....

Another example of a perfectly innocent local tradition being destroyed by political correctness.

Why does it destroy it? I can't imagine it will happen in the same room

This festival has always been about single men and single women looking to marry a member of the opposite sex. Once you destroy the principle of one man looking to meet one woman and vice versa, the festival becomes open to all sorts agendas looking for recognition. Next NAMBLA will want to join the festival. Then it will be the polygamists. Before you know it people will be going to Lisdoonvarna looking to meet an animal or an inanimate object to spend the rest of their life with. Gay people already have dozens of locations in Ireland to socialise in and meet partners. Why do they have to claim the historic event of Lisdoonvarna and ruin it's tradition?
