Default US Cardinal boycotts Enda Kenny - "aggressively promoting abortion legislation"

It has transpired this evening that US Cardinal Sean O'Malley has entered the row over Enda Kenny's upcoming speech at the Roman Catholic Boston College.

Earlier US Pro-Life campaigners had called for Mr. Kenny not to be allow speak there and called his invitation “unconscionable” in light of the politician’s push for legal abortion.

    Cardinal O'Malley has said:

"I am sure that the invitation was made in good faith, long before it came to the attention of the leadership of Boston College that Mr Kenny is aggressively promoting abortion legislation.

"Since the university has not withdrawn the invitation and because the Taoiseach has not seen fit to decline, I shall not attend the graduation."

A US Pro-Life group had this to say:

Kenny has also suggested that pro-life members of parliament may be expelled from his party if they refuse to vote in favor of the abortion legislation.

The organization said it is “simply unconscionable” for any college, particularly a Catholic one, to “honor the man who would usher in the mass death of Irish preborn children.”

I'd personally let him speak there and then confront him with argument, but each to their own. He should be excommunicated though.

    This will snowball.
Boston College won't want to be 'out' with Cardinal O'Malley and it won't do the FG US fundraisers any favours.
The donation of US$50,000 was related to a fundraising event held by the Fine Gael party in New York.

Good for him. No reason he should share the stage with someone possibly overseeing an extremely restrictive abortion environment.

Now obviously if he were to share the stage recently with someone who oversees an abortion on demand environment and who is in favour of that environment continuing, then he'd be a massive hypocrite right? Right? Good thing he's not done that then.

    Oops.

Some guy on Twitter has posted that "Cardinal O Malley" is an anagram of "Really Old Maniac"

Dont recall O Malley speaking out about US priests abusing kids, and what has he had to say about his colleague Cardinal Law ?

Agree fully. Good to see people willing to take a stand for the unborn and challenging those talking out of both sides of their mouth. Fine Gael - the Abortion Party.

Nice try, but there is a difference. Can you spot it?

I'm sure Kenny will be devastated. Where's Cruimh though? He loves trying to link the nation of Ireland with Catholicism......... Oh wait.
