Thread: FF to oppose Abortion Bill

  1. #1

Default FF to oppose Abortion Bill?

Just hearing that a majority of the FF PP have voted to vote against legalising abortion. It's good to see one party at least having a moral compass.

Let's hope their compass leads them south - past the Kerry coast and into the Atlantic Ocean.

Have they articulated any specific part or section of the legislation that they are opposed to?

It's the 1983-87 oppo strategy all over again -- denounce austerity, any liberalization of family law, and govt performance on Norn Iron -- just till they're back in power to implement the same policies.
The Daily Mail -- the world's biggest cut-and-paste operation.

It's still very much "breaking news". Martin now has two choices, respect a democratic vote or allow a free vote, but given that FG are whipping, I can't see FF doing otherwise.

So FF oppose legislation for the very ammendment to the Constitution that they supported.... more inconsistency from FF who are a vapid, populist party whose social policies don't add up the same way their economic policies didn't add up

    That's just plain wrong.

FF have consistently been opposed to the X case judgment and the suicide clause in particular. For God's sake, they introduced 2 separate referenda to get rid of the damn thing!

Opposing this Bill would be 100% consistent with their position for the last 20 years. Get your facts straight before you criticise them.
