Default Is 'Equality' The New Religion In Secular Ireland?

Currently within the various media outlets we 'enjoy' in Ireland, I have recently seen a proliferation of people chanting the mantra that we must have, "a more equal society".

Does anyone know what this even means, and if so, how do we further this 'ideal'?

I am not posting any links to 'Equality' since there are so many, and anyway it would be an inequality (don't you know), to pick one such link above another.

Yes that means that they want to take all the wealth and share it equally.

Unfortunately Ireland is not fully secular yet but, we're getting there.

The removal of religious involvement in the running of our schools will go a long way towards attaining this within a few generations.

It depends who is talking about equality. If it's a socialist it means economic equality. If it's a liberal it means equality before the law. If it's a homosexual it means gay adoption. If it's a feminist it means more quango jobs for women.

Where 'Equality' is concerned, is this not a moron of 'oxy' determinism?

The equality they want is to drag everybody down to a level of mediocrity where anybody seeking to get ahead gets penalised. Anybody not being willing to be part of their experiment get punished.

classical liberalism is straight forward equality before the law, modern day, bastardised, so called "liberalism", is not really about equality before the law or equality in general since it confers privileges to special groups in society, be they racial minorities or gays etc.

"Affirmative action" in the U.S is a good example of this, since this practice awards less competent individuals from certain racial minorities at the expense of more competent whites. I would also include "incitement to hatred" legislation or "anti discrimination" laws that infringe on freedom of speech, freedom of association and private property rights, so not only are they about confering special privileges, but about infringing on the rights of others which many would argue are more fundamental(ie private property, freedom of association)

It's simple - Equality is the antithesis of discriminatory.
