Let's establish a penal colony on South Georgia. Relocate criminals, asylum seekers and refugees from our overloaded prisons out there. Asylum seekers and refugees wouldn't be incarcerated but merely live there. You know, give them a parka and some food.
Some advantages: heroin is a big problem in Irish prisons, brought in by relatives and guards. It would be more difficult to do in South Georgia.
No one would bother escape. Where to?
It would be expensive to manage and guard the prisoners re: human resources point of view. Hire mercenaries and offer to import prisoners and failed asylum seekers from other parts of Europe there, for a fee. Hey presto!
What do you think folks?
