Default Public sector pay row, a simple solution?

We all are awaiting the next step the Government will take after the Unions rejection of the Croke Park 2 agreement. Many fear industrial strife is close. This is totally unnecessary. I will suggest a simple and practical plan that will give the Troika what they want while avoiding industrial strife. This plan is

Reduce our overseas aid bill by 300 million

Freeze public sector wages above 60 thousand for three years.

This plan will work as we give far too much aid away overseas, often to places where it may not be used for the intended purpose and charity should start at home. Giving hundreds of millions away every year to keep the PC liberals happy when we are in an IMF programme is just madness.

But there is a simple solution already waiting to be implemented. Howlin said he would cut PS wages by 7 % if we rejected CP2. We voted in favour of the 7% cut.

Do you not think giving hundreds of millions away to other states while we are in an IMF programme is madness?
