    Default #VINB Thur 18/4/2013: Personal insolvency; Croke Park 2

    … on air at the slightly earlier time of 22:49 tonight

    Niamh Lyons, Political correspondent Irish Daily Mail https://twitter.com/niamh_lyons
    Mary Lou McDonald, SF TD Dublin Central https://twitter.com/MaryLouMcDonald
    Peter Mathews, FG TD Dublin South https://twitter.com/pbmathews

    The Government today launched a personal insolvency service which introduces new arrangements for struggling borrowers to reach agreement with their creditors. Insolvency Service of Ireland (ISI), the new State agency, will be in a position to begin accepting applications at the end of June. Debtors will face spending limits.

    There will be three different debt solutions that will depend on the amount of debt involved; individual circumstances and whether there is a mortgage, and if the debt is secured or unsecured.
    * The Debt Relief Notice (DRN) is for debts up to €20,000;
    * the Debt Settlement Arrangement (DSA) is for unsecured debts of no limit;
    * the Personal Insolvency Arrangement (PIA) is for unsecured and secured debt.

    So how far will this go to helping out those who need help with their finances? Tonight’s show - with an excellent panel - gets to grips with the solutions … Good show tonight predicted …

    Hopefully he'll have that soul brother on again from last night's paper review who called the IRA "freedom fighters."

    Pure television gold....

    Great op norm.

    Good topic, Peter Matthews to kick around and the delightful Niamh Lyons.

    I'll even put up with Mary-Lou for this one.

    I hope Peter will answer the questions ... and not have his I'm-only-a-banker persona on tonight.

    In fairness you could get out of the workhouse at some stage.

    The insolvency people own you for life.
