Default The NHS is being broken-up and privatised

NHS in England on fast track to privatisation, Labour warns | GPonline.com

It would seem a lot of NHS staff are being made redundant as many direct services are now being provided for by private contractors etc. This is a step beyond simply supporting existing state provided services, we are talking about whole Trusts etc moving out of public control. The end basically of the NHS.

Are we likely to see similar here? Mass redundancies appear to be on the government agenda if war with the union break out here.

Sabre rattling by the Left in the run up to the local and Euro elections. The NHS is not being privatised. The largest employer in Europe is merely being tinkered with. Take no notice.

No doubt that this is happening but it's only just started. People haven't woken up to the reality yet and won't until they see things go wrong. Cleverly the government has passed the responsibility for commissioning services to consortia led by GPs, so when it all falls apart they will get the blame. I fully expect to be working for Richard Branson in less than 5 years...

If only. Every single service will be tendered to the private sector who are hanging around like vultures to cherry pick high profit specialties and services.

Labour are not on the Left. This has been going on for years and will continue until you will only get the goods and services you can pay for . According to the financially erudite young turks here that's only common sense. Anything else is just not Austrian.
The truth of an idea is not a stagnant property inherent in it. Truth happens to an idea. It becomes true, is made true by events.

They will still provide free services to the public, but the public will no longer the prime driver of the service. Retaining the contract and making money will be. I think private provision can work very well in something like the NHS to some extent but to hand the whole service over and break-up the management structure is likely to be a disaster, expect a lot of high volume profitable things to be done that are of little medical benefit to anyone.

The problem is at a political level it all boils down to simple figure on a graph, good health systems are difficult to reduce to that.

No. Won't happen. Although some very small parts may get outsourced, the bulk of this inefficient monolith will prevail. Even the Tories aren't stupid enough to mess too much with the NHS. Labour scaremongering.
