Default Lucinda Creighton's Tribute to Thatcher

Lucinda had a column in the Indo yesterday in defence of Thatcher. Essentially it just gives all the right wing clichés about Thatcher and her stuggles against the unions and socialism. It also has a couple of lazy stereotypical analogies of The Cold War and the IRA. Comically Lucinda claims Thatcher was actually very pro-EU! Lucinda obviously can't bear the reality that Thatcher opposed things like German unification and Maastricht so therefore she revises history.

Lucinda would make a fantastic contributor to p.ie.
She has strong convictions backed up with some facts and a willingness to extrapolate the rest from daydreams and wishful thinking.

Left wing poster (whose user name is that of a Communist dictator with the blood of his own citizens on his hands) is annoyed by right wing politician writing an article in praise of another right wing politician.

    Now there is a shock.

The world is indeed a funny place

I'm only surprised she didn't say she wants to be like Maggie when she grows up.

I'm more amused than anything. Take this for example

The Britain which Margaret Thatcher was called to lead in 1979 was riven by strikes, trade union militancy, a fading economy and a national sense of doom. Europe and the world seemed destined to fall under the cosh of a Soviet communism which was winning the nuclear race and rushing towards global domination.

Did anyone in 1979 seriously think that western europe was going to fall under the "cosh" of the USSR or that the Soviets a were even trying to achieve this? if anything the 70s were an ere of detente.

you give her far too much credit, her convictions change on a daily basis or whichever way the wind is blowing. She would be eaten alive on this site
