Hope they can knock this on the head before any major damage occurs.

Copied from Irish Weather Online facebook page....
When a man sits with a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute. But let him sit on a hot stove for a minute and it's longer than any hour. That's relativity.

In these winds that's a bad situation. All you can really do is get out of the way i'm afraid. Hope there's no sheep out there.

The incredible dryness and hardness, as well as those strong dry winds, create a tinder-box scenario..

The cold winds have dried out the vegetation and any sort of spark will ignite and be driven along at speed in these conditions. What caused the spark is another matter. Could be anything, lot of people out over the weekend, only takes one careless type. A tractor exhaust will give off sparks, someone could have started it. The conditions are perfect right now for a big fire.

The fire in Barna is huge. You can see it For miles. It has crossed a road and beginning to burn in two areas now.
