    Default Girl killed by dogs

Headline caught my eye this morning. Seems the poor girl was killed by two Staffordshires and two Mastiffs when she was eating in front of them. The dogs were owned by her friend's mother by the sounds of it. Dogs would have to be pretty brutalised and neglected to behave like that.

    Horrible, poor girl,

Agree with the sentiments in the OP, the animals must have been mistreated,

Absolutely heartbreaking story; concur with the OP, that's not normal behaviour.

All these type of dogs need to be banned totally. Most are owned by skangers who can't even raise their own kids and see the dogs as a status symbol.

The poor little girl i can't even imagine how terrified she must have been. R.I.P.

The presence of pitbull terriers says a lot about the area this poor girl lived in ... The only people in our locality with these animals are drug dealers and travellers ... These animals should be banned but that would infringe on drug dealers rights ... Can't have that now can we ...

Agreed. If socialised, Staffies are amongst the friendliest dogs you'll ever meet. Your only danger is being licked to happiness. While not trying to prejudge this case, if they're denied contact and locked in a run, can you blame them for returning to being pack animals?

All the dogs mentioned are banned in Dublin local authority estates afaik. It is not the dogs fault but it is true that scum tend to want to have them so they are often brutalised. But any dog will behave like that if treated badly. Of course there is big difference between being attacked by a brutalised Mastiff which is a powerful animal and being attacked by a Jack Russell or a poodle.

I have had dog set upon by Pit Bulls let loose by some feral scum but fortunately it was a bitch and the male dogs didn't carry on with their attack. The dogs clearly had retained some of their code of honour despite being under the control of lower animals.

There are no bad dogs just bad owners. People who own dogs should be regularly investigated to see if they are treating the dogs properly and should have mandatory training before being allowed to have one.

Which types of dog specifically? Please name all the breeds you'd be belting with your ban stick.

Yep, it is quite funny to see how friendly they are compared to their fearsome looks,

But keeping 4 or 5 of them in a terreced house is not fair to them,
