    Default Irish Insecurity

Currently,on P.ie,we are discussing tenuous links between Ireland and Kate Middleton,Elvis Presley,The Pope,Danny Boyle,Frankie Boyle, murders in Bolivia,Bruce Springsteen, obscure words in the english language etc.
This is a recurring theme and is indicative of a country/nation that is deeply unsure of itself. It is not confined to p.ie.The irish media daily produces ephemeral data that shows the irish are the happiest, richest, most generous etc etc.
In august 2012 the Irish Times headline was "The Germans prefer Ireland to the other bailout nations". How craven and obsequious can a nation stoop to get satisfaction from such a statistic? One could also feel the pain of the Nation when Rory McIlroy rejected his dark side.
Surely it is now time to stand alone without constantly seeking approval or reflected glory from others.

And you think that the Irish are alone in that?

    /Mod/ There's a huge thread on this here http://www.politics.ie/forum/culture...nderstand.html /mod/
I'm living in America, and in America, you're on your own. America's not a country. It's just a business. Now f***ing pay me.
