Default Michael Moore: Release photos of slaughtered Newtown kids to gin up support for gun control

Amid a waning of the fervour for gun control that peaked after the Newton massacre in which a crazed gunman fatally shot twenty children and six staff at a school, the prominent left-wing documentary maker Michael Moore has a plan to reinvigorate support for gun control:

He wants someone to release photos of the slaughtered children:

"I believe someone in Newtown, Connecticut – a grieving parent, an upset law enforcement officer, a citizen who has seen enough of this carnage in our country – somebody, someday soon, is going to leak the crime scene photos of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. And when the American people see what bullets from an assault rifle fired at close range do to a little child's body, that's the day the jig will be up for the NRA. It will be the day the debate on gun control will come to an end. There will be nothing left to argue over. It will just be over. And every sane American will demand action."
Moore expects such photos to show the following:

"...very extensive, severe and mutilating injuries of the head and face in these small victims. Depending on the number of shots striking a child’s head, substantial portions of the head would be literally blasted away. The underlying brain tissue would be extensively lacerated with portions of hemorrhagic brain tissue protruding through the fractured calvarium and basilar skull, some of which would remain on portions of the face...actual physical identification of each child would have been extremely difficult, and in many instances impossible, even by the parents of any particular child."

Is the fat slob still a member of the NRA? I know at the time of 'Bowling for Columbine' he said he was. If Moore still is, why consistently slam an organisation you contribute to?

    not a good idea.
the yanks would use the photos as justufucation for arming all the teachers with guns.
what the yanks need is more & more & more guns.
    that's FREEDOM - isn't it ??

Not sure if he is still a member of the NRA but for sure he still is a fat slob and a media whore. There is little he won't say or do to get in front of a camera. It's easy for him to make the suggestion, it's not pictures of his loved that he wants posted.

Is this a thread about Moore's suggestion or his weight? Because only one of those is a political issue.

It's important that people on both sides of the debate empathize with the victims of gun crime. It's also important that they base their decisions on more than an emotional reaction to images of victims of gun crime.

It could be both, kind of like cause and effect. Maybe his gluttony affects his political thinking. Who knows?

Moore obviously wants to fuel peoples' emotions by wanting a release of the photos.

Although I would totally oppose the introduction of US gun laws in Ireland, given their culture, I am not sure if gun control would do much to prevent gun crime.

I think this quote by Morgan Freeman is profound.

There's nothing necessarily wrong with that motivation if you think that people are currently desensitized when it comes to gun violence (which is probably true for a lot of people). My objection is to the thought that that should be sufficient to settle the debate.
