Default EU Parliament in effort to stifle free speech

Next Tuesday, The European Parliament Votes To Ban All Your Porn. Yes, Really. Take Immediate Action. - Falkvinge on Infopolicy

This is a sinister effort to stifle free speech masquerading as (yet another) piece of gender equality legislation. A vote will be taken on Tuesday on whether to ban all forms of pornography across all media including on the internet. Following on from the recent report commissioned by Neelie Krooes where it was suggested that there be yet more EU control of the media it shows a highly unfortunate attitude to free speech within the EU establishment. To add insult to injury when a

I think it is time we brought in a Second Amendment type clause into our constitution because politicians with the same status as the Grundnorms in the German constituion in this country and in the EU seemed to have developed tastes for media control that a very unhealthy.

However boys and girls there is a little twist in the tale. A Pirate Party organised email protest was stopped when the European Parliament blocked the emails sent to MEPs which the Europarl spokesman said was anti-spamming measure. Does anyone believe him?

Fidelma Healy Screams is against sexting. It's funny how they think they can control the internet with no backfire.

I haven't seen many porn films but there was very little speech in those I did see.

I am sick and tired of this nonsense from the European and Irish Left. In this country they are pushing the criminalisation of customers of adult prostitutes, regardless of whether the prostitute is coerced or not. With revelations of the ties between Ruhama and the Catholic Right (Sisters of Charity/Mercy are their trustees), the Irish Left itself needs to beware of being manipulated by them to pursue agendas they are supposed to be against, like suppressing sexual freedom of adults.

I am also concerned about the role of the Religious Right in Fine Gael in the form of polemics about "fornication" and demands for the censorship of the internet. We need to be careful we don't become like America where the GOP has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Bible thumpers.

Now I know this is not legislation. But it constitutes a request for legislation. Especially sinister is the language about national govts establishing agencies to control the internet. It is imperative the Council of Ministers turns down this slippery slope to a police state.

Daniel Hannon MEP said on Euronews today that the European Parliament plans to vote on the European budget in secret. This is not democracy. The Irish people would not tolerate this from an Irish govt. It has largely slipped under the radar in this country because Brussels is so far away.

The European Parliament appears to me to be an even more opaque institution than the EU Commission. It seems to be controlled by a handful of Party Grandees who operate behind the scenes, and deliver Bloc Votes.

All they need in as ISP opt in at source.

    This is basic common sense.

Please forgive me spelling in recent posts as I am using my xperia x10 phone as my laptop hard drive has failed.

At first I dismissed the OP as conspiracy theory.

I am mid going through the proposals in english, german, swedish, dutch and french. The proposals are all the same in each language, so there is no error in translation.

In the last couple of hours I have been asked to check out several websites which I manage for friends to sell items for there business's.

Before anyone gets any ideas, none of them are porn or even related.

One website sells sports gear and apparently the pictures of models wearing sports bra's would fall under these insane proposals.

The most risque website I help maintain is my friends site for goth and fetish clothing, which fortunately falls outside these proposals, as the clothing is modeled on shop dummies, instead of models.

These proposals would affect online lingerie sales and make lingerie modelling a criminal offence.

Also tthe proposals would require the creation of an agency to oversee all this as no police force would have the manpower. It literally would require at minimum 100,000's or even millions of people to enforce this due to the extreme broad range of how they are defining pornography. Even the definition of porn in this proposal is nuts.

This proposal actually reads as though someone took the ideas of Joe Ratzinger, the chief reactionary in the Vatican and rewrote them for the internet.

Porn of all kinds from hard to soft would only be less than 1% of what would actually be covered in this proposal.

This proposal would literally set modern dating back to what we had in 1950's Ireland with the priests having a say in our bedrooms, how we dated, who we dated, where we socialised, how we socialised, what groups we were members of etc.

This is not an attack on freedom of speech where someone shouts loud about nothing.

THIS IS A PROPOSAL TO LAUNCH A FULL SCALE ASSAULT ON FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
