Default Sinn Féin thinks we should spend more than the €600 MILLION each year we spend on Foreign Aid!

Yes folks that is the startling message that the Bright Boys in SFs policy Dept think according to the document published on Dochas Site

Sinn Féin endorses the strategy and goals set down
by Irish Aid in the 2006 White Paper. In this context,
Sinn Féin sees the eradication of poverty, one of
the prominent Millennium Development Goals, as
underpinning all other development priorities. Gender
equality, good governance and the protection of human
rights all stem from this one critical goal.
    ...

Sinn Féin supports the Millennium Development
Goal target of government expenditure on Overseas
Development Aid (ODA) reaching 0.7% of Gross
    National Product by 2015.

In 2008, Ireland contributed €921 million to ODA or
almost 0.6% of GNP. This year that total is down to just
over €600 million or around 0.5% of GNP so the overall
ODA budget has now been reduced by €315 million or
    by one third since 2008.

The government needs to outline its plan for getting
Ireland’s commitment to the 0.7% target back on
    track.

    Submission compiled by:
Pádraig Mac Lochlainn TD, Sinn Féin spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and Trade
Kaniah Cusack, Advisor on Foreign Affairs and Trade to Sinn Féin

So the next time these BS start moaning about cutbacks to services

    - you might them why they support giving away €600 MILLION + of money Abroad

    - that is badly needed at home?

    I know I will!

Amazing how a party can be ridiculed for the above in this century.

Amazing how they think Irish People should do without services to pay for this!

Agreed, they need to rethink their priorities. Foreign aid should be at zero until we recover. It is ridiculous. Are we borrowing the money to give to others?

No, it should be used to benefit our interests abroad. Building relations with emerging/developing countries so we may have future markets. I.e. being proactive.

Nope - they referred sceptics to the magic money tree growing in Pearse Motormouth's back garden. Seemingly, Pádraig MacLochlainn can see it from the roof of his bungalow on a clear day.

    Does that include bondholders?

    Of course they wouldn't...

    They don't exactly flag this
