I didn't know whether this should go in current events or political humour

It's a pity that the very real and serious issues surrounding digital ethics are obscured by the general inability of elected officials to know what they're talking about.

All the government should do here, is ensure FB has a proper report system that follows up on complaints.

Not bringing charges against 14 year old frapers while banksters walk free.

Very few people over the age of 50 can operate a DVD player , never mind comprehend the internetz.
Given the age profile of the Oireachteas,we're doomed.

Exactly, the amount of times she says "I've heard" you'd swear she was talking about the puka or something!

    The Stoopid, it burns!

The thing is though age doesn't seem to be a factor in this utterly-clueless-but-will-spout-on-anyway mentality, or this utter lack of cop-on when it comes to modern technology. I mean do any of you think younger FF/G/L TDs would be any better? Say, Lucinda? Labour have already proved their Looper credientials with young Sherlock's insane anti-internet laws. I don't know if any FF TDs are under 50 and don't care, they are FF so by definition drooling inbreeds anyway.

Point is, the sort of person who is attracted to and survives the party political machine of traditional Irish politics is not going to be the sharpest mind in the room, and is always going to be a few decades behind the evolution of Irish society - which itself is always decades behind the rest of the world.
