Default Senator suggests people should "pay to post"

    Oh God no...

An Oireachtas Committee has heard that getting people to pay to post on social media websites or register their passport numbers for IP addresses could help tackle the issue of anonymity of the internet.

Senator Eamon Coghlan made the suggestions as the committee examined the link between social media and cyber bullying.

Who is this tool and how did he end up with this cushy number in life? Who voted for him, where, when, what has he contributed to the country or anything?

I don't honestly know which of the ideas is more ignorant, but I guess I'd have to go, on purely technical grounds, with the idea of passports being used to register IP addresses.

I'd be able to write this off as "ah well, it's just one ignorant politician", but he's saying this to a bunch of politicians with the power to make legislation about it!

Most cyberbullying is not anonymous. It's done by texting and on Facebook, where the identity of the poster is quite clear.
