    Default Nurses 8% cut?

With the end of the twilight premium and a reduction to time-and-three-quarters for Sunday premium, a nurse now on €35,000 per annum will lose 8% of their salary according to the INMO.

An INMO rep claimed that "The only other people who will lose 8% are those earning more than €80,000. Everybody earning below €65,000 does not lose any pay. Everyone, including the nurse, has to work extra hours. But the nurse works extra hours and loses 8% of salary. It is grossly disproportionate".

As it stands, government hopes to employ new nursing graduates across HSE and HSE funded sites to a two-year rotational graduate scheme on 80 per cent of an entry grade salary - €22,000.

Are government being fair to all public sector workers in these Croke Park talks?

    INMO: Nurses on

It's not about fair. It's about the exercise of power and attacking those who don't count.

I'm living in America, and in America, you're on your own. America's not a country. It's just a business. Now f***ing pay me.

It is about balancing the books. if the nurses don't like it, they can leave for Australia and double their money. It really is their choice.
