Default Faces from the Third World

Sometimes you'll see a portrait in a newspaper or magazine that captures your attention and imagination. Such portraits can instil a sense of wonder or unease, pleasure or pain, anger or empathy and even the impetus to question the values in your own life and how you interact with others.

This stunning series of portraits is not just an insight into a world we only see in passing, but a visual feast of colour, composition, light and, most of all, a reminder that human emotions are universal and span ethnicity, age, creed and geographical boundaries.

Many of these images are of the displaced: from floods to wars, from hunger to the search for work, the realities of their own particular circumstances are caught on camera and reproduced here as thought-provoking works of art.

Abortion is an act of violence. Violence demeans humanity, particularly violence against women and children.

    Interesting shots.

That young lad with the red bowtie is in for some stick.

flickr is a great resource on almost any subject.

Despair v hope and resilience - every picture tells a story.

    Thanks Hewson.
