Default We need an RC television / radio channel in Ireland.

I don't own a television ,an iPod or an Internet radio. I have a little radio alarm clock and a laptop .I like religious programmes . [My mother has ETWN ,but even if I had a television, I would boycott Sky as I don't approve of Murdoch].

The only mass I am able to get on radio at the minute is the Irish language mass at eleven Sunday morning. That doesn't suit as I want to hear what is in the papers from Marian's show. I emailed RTE as I couldn't find the mass or any religious programmes section on the RTE website and got an email back saying I could hear mass on Radio 1 LW252or RTÉ Radio 1 Extra on digital radio . Does she mean digital radio as the digital radios you buy at Argos or digital radio as on online? [Also, I wrote my email in Irish and the response was in English]. I never listen to RTE online as the volume is too low.

I like Radio 1 especially Pat Kenny, but its treatment of ordinary RCs like myself is very poor ,very very poor. All I want is Mass, some religious programmes about the serving faithful and decent coverage of events like ' March for Life'.
I vaguely remember during Ahern's era, the Born Again Christians or the Evangelicals being told that they weren't allowed start their own radio station. If I wanted to start up a Catholic Media company like Mother Angelica did in the US so many moons ago what would stop me?

One thing is for certain;we need more RC television programmes in Ireland and RTE cannot or will not provide them.

If you, and like-minded others, can pay for it, you'll get it.

Insofar as I cam remember, the Catholic Church, through its diocesan network and structures, invested (as partners) in a number of the local radio station projects when they were being set up.

Nor should they. Email the CEO of your church (pope) and ask him to provide what you want.

Use the internet. I'm sure there is mass available online at any hour of your choosing if you look hard enough.

If you wish to obtain a radio broadcast licence to broadcast your own Catholic programming you will have to wait until the next round of offers from the BCI. They invite proposals and you put one in. At least one christian station has been successful and is currently broadcasting in Dublin anyway.

RTE should have nothing to do with promoting one brand of mumbo-jumbo over another.

I like Radio 1 especially Pat Kenny, but its treatment of ordinary Muslims like myself is very poor ,very very poor. All I want is prayers five times a day, some religious programmes about the serving faithful and decent coverage of events like Ramadan.

One thing is for certain: we need more Muslim television programmes in Ireland and RTE cannot or will not provide them.

The extra RTÉ radio channels are on digital/Internet radios, as you say like the ones you get in Argos (DAB is fairly patchy depending on your location, so Internet radios are more reliable). As for EWTN, don't watch it personally, but it is available as part of the UPC package, so no need to worry about Sky. Finally, as Bleu Poppy mentions, the Church does part-own many local stations, but even that doesn't ensure you'll hear Mass on any of them, Radio Kerry bearing that out.

Many people like Porn, doesn't mean that RTE are going to provide this either.
