Default Cork Gardaí vote for work-to-rule and 'blu flu', pass motion of no confidence in Callinan and Shatter

In an escalation of the growing conflict between the Government and Gardai, over 350 Gardaí from the three Cork divisions have overwhelmingly vote in favour of a work-to-rule and a "blue flu". They also "almost unanimously" passed motions of no confidence in Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan and Justice Minister Alan Shatter.

The rebel action is expected to mark the start of more widespread resistance on foot of growing frustration and anger at Department of Justice attempts to generate savings of €60m in the Garda pay and pensions bill.

John Parker, president of the GRA, said morale was “at an all time low”.

Mr Parker, who did not attend the meeting, said he was not surprised at the outcome, given “the possibility of being unable to pay bills and the threat of losing the family home”, that many gardaí face.

Meanwhile, people in the DF carry on their duties to the state without public cribbing.

The above is the reason why the Government allowed additional recruitment to the defence forces. Could we see the Military once again Policing Ireland??

It could prove to be the start of many protests/significant industrial action during 2013. CPA2 is dead in the water even before it gets to the ballot stage, that is even if it gets that far.

Unlike Gardai, Irish Defence Force personell are not permitted any degree of public protest . [that you already knew that however does not stop you from making an ass of yourself once again]

Through representative associations such as RACO or PDFORRA or RDFRA. Much as the way the GRA are doing.

Is "almost unanimous" kind of like "slightly pregnant"?

Shatter must go. He has made a complete cock up of his position. Unacceptable.
