In an escalation of the growing conflict between the Government and Gardai, over 350 Gardaí from the three Cork divisions have overwhelmingly vote in favour of a work-to-rule and a "blue flu". They also "almost unanimously" passed motions of no confidence in Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan and Justice Minister Alan Shatter.

John Parker, president of the GRA, said morale was “at an all time low”.
Mr Parker, who did not attend the meeting, said he was not surprised at the outcome, given “the possibility of being unable to pay bills and the threat of losing the family home”, that many gardaí face.
