Default VIP rooms in Irish Public hospitals

I recently had a conversation with a health professional, who works in one of our Public hospitals. The topic of A & E came up and I asked her were Politicians treated favorably when they attend A & E? She informed me that in the hospital she works in any well known Politician, people of influence etc. are accommodated in what she called a "VIP room". Seemingly when Politicians etc. are in need of emergency help in Public hospitals, calls are made to senior HSE figures and this "VIP room" is made ready. I put it to this Health worker that "surely the media would have picked up on this" and she said "people that are influential in media circles also have this little perk, so why would the media highlight it"? Has anyone else heard of these 'VIP' rooms in operation in State hospitals? Has any P.ie poster attended an A&E ward and noticed people of influence, and their family waiting for care??

As long as they don't get preferential treatment and access to faster care, I don't care that much.
    Boycott the "Irish" Sun rag.

My friend assures me that every time the Taoiseach travels on his private 747-800, he carries a designated organ donor and a team of surgeons with him.

Sounds like a bit of a conspiracy theory to me. If you're a disgruntled HSE employee who wants improvements in hours or wages etc. it would be a much better idea to leave them sitting in a trolley in a corridor for hours on end. Just pop by every 30 minutes to let them know how understaffed and over populated the place is.

The point is these VIPs are not left waiting on Trollies as they don't wait in A&E.
