Default Are atheists the new protestants? Britain's first atheist church established in London

BBC News - Scores assemble at 'Britain's first atheist church'

This is very amusing. These atheists are based in an old church in Islington and have Sunday assemblies.

Why don't these atheists go and find a non-theological base instead of aping European religious practices?

Perhaps they haven't got enough imagination?

Brexit comes straight from hell. Everywhere it goes it causes disharmony, turbulence and misery. I think Brexiteers themselves must have some form of mental illness.

    Because, basically, it's satire.

They are still focused on religion. Under its thumb.

To be truly atheist is to be free from all influence of religion.

    Idiots.
“atheism is a belief system in the same way that not playing football is a sport.”

It's postmodern irony- it is also ironic that religious types are telling us what we are or aren't under the influence of.
The truth of an idea is not a stagnant property inherent in it. Truth happens to an idea. It becomes true, is made true by events.

I agree with you a little also Hitch - I just find the religious types obsession with atheism amusing. Why doesn't everybody just leave everybody else alone? In a generation or two superstition would die out.
