Default "But, we have no money....."

Councils holding out empty pockets, increasing local taxes and commercial rates and crying poverty in these times of austerity?

Seems like someone's been telling the odd porky or two....

Sounds like a massive number but it is not. In the most stable states in Europe, namely Sweden and Switzerland, local authorities have much more responsibility. I think it is something we need to look at.

One council per county is more than enough.

So how much cash reserves do all our town councils have in reserve throughout the state?

We only need about 7 or 8 regional authorities in the 26 counties at most, possibly as few as 5 and less than 400 councillors.

Rant of the day.. just watch the speaker volume.
There is something pigheaded about Wexford this season, something pigheaded and perverse and oddly beautiful. In certain lights they are starting to look heroic.

Wait, hang on, if we got rid of the Gardai, hospitals and schools we would be feckin rolling in it!
