    Default Closure of Garda Stations

Seeing that the stations are closing today I heard a story on the local radio last week of a FG councillor in Longford going to ask the local Garda Super if he would let the local guard that is stationed in the village have clinics in the councillors shop in the village After the station closes today Of all the cock eyed ideas to come up with. It has to be the worst bit of a political stunt ever in this area The councillor would be better if he got the Minister to not close the station in the first place Talk about gimmicks to get votes That one would be hard beaten And tonight the same Councillor is on the RTE news crying about the closure. His party and his Minister is closing them

My cousin lives in a small village that is loosing its Garda Station. The local people were concerned and went to their local T.D. to campaign against the closure.

The T.D. who was an FG T.D. looked into the activity levels of crime in the area and discovered there was no crime reported in over ten years.

The locals contend it is because there is a Garda there for 40 hours a week!

OP's, style, use of language. Not denying it. Came when Neutron was banned. Several mitigating factors involved here.

We cant have a Garda station in every little sheveen in the country
Its the number of Garda that count - not the number of Garda stations

The simple solution is to recruit 3000 Garda reserves. Hell they dont even need full uniforms except the shoes trousers and shirts.

Most rural gardai go around "half blue" anyway

Why was he banned? I remember one hilarious OP from him about something big was going to happen soon, like a Zombie invasion or something, was a good ole laugh.

As I have said many times the crime is this Country lies squarely at the feet of the Judiciary for letting the hardened scum off. Better to leave the Garda stations open and fill the cells with the low level crims, that must bring in about another 300 prison places.

Fill them with the low level crims and bring them out every day to work if they want fresh air and leave them a telly and few beers on a Friday & Saturday night. They would be away from the system and rehabilitation into society would be much faster than Mountjoy. If they do not like it or adapt then back to the Joy immediately.

Shatter dos not inspire anyone and he has not addressed the legal aid joke, the impunity of foolish judgements, the Roma/Bulgarian influx that is ready to come next year and reform of the judiciary. He is well versed in the art of rhetoric - todays example about closing Garda stations will not deter roaming thieves does not address stopping roaming thieves but diverts us from thinking he has any plans whatsoever to find and jail these scumbags.

Shatter belongs in the senate in Rome, bluffing and spoofing while no ideas or real problem solving ideas are implemented.
