    Default Music and the dole.

Wouldn't it be great if a group of talented musicians in Ireland got together to do something like this?

This impromptu session was held in an unemployment office in Madrid a few days into the new year, when those without work are often at their lowest ebb. It was organised by Carne Cruda 2.0 – voted the best radio programme in 2012 – broadcast on Spain’s premier radio network, Cadena SER.

A few minutes of sunshine on a grey day, courtesy of a group of people who wanted to make things seem a little less grim, if only for a short while.

Can you imagine sitting in a dole office, and Damian Dempsey came in and started singing at you?

As if stuff wasn't bad enough to start with.

    Could be worse.

Paddy O'Gorman could start asking you how you were managing on €180 a week, if your wife was working and how you got to be here – while his dog pissed on your ankles.
