Default 82 year old man gets 6 months jail in Limerick for sex offences - Where is sentencing consistency?

Hot in the heals of yesterdays controversy over rape sentencing, an 82 year old man has been given 6 months in jail for sexual assault.

I''m just left scratching my head and wondering if there is any consistancy at all in sentences handed down by the courts.

"A former garda and scout leader was sentenced to six months imprisonment for abusing young boys in the 1960s.

John (Jack) Dunne, aged 82, of Cannon Breen Park, Thomondgate pleaded guilty to 14 counts of indecent assault on unknown dates between 1963 and 1969.

The charges related to four named individuals, who are all now aged in their 50s.

Dunne, who was formerly attached to Pearse Street garda station in Dublin, indecently assaulted two of his victims at the garda station where he worked as a juvenile liaison officer."

Issue in some of these cases seems to be the health of the paedo. Personally, i'd let them die in prison.

A blue pill would help with that.

    Cyanide, not Viagra.

Maybe there are prison cells available in Limerick, but not in Wheatfield or Mountjoy ?

It literally could be something that fundamental.
Coveney's ambition is the be Ireland's next EU Commissar and Ireland will pay a price as he builds his CV to position himself sufficiently loyal to the nEU empire.

Judge Carney didn't say anything about availability of prison cells.
