    Default The Steubenville Rape...

...not sure if it's been the subject of a thread here, but horrific incident that shines a spotlight on not just rape, sexual assault and teenage life in the USA, but the use of social media afterwards following an alleged cover up.

Trent Mays, 17, and Ma'Lik Richmond, 16, were sentenced to at least a year in juvenile prison. Mays was ordered to serve an additional year for photographing the victim naked. They can be held until they turn 21. State Attorney General Mike DeWine said he was continuing his investigation and would consider charges against anyone who failed to speak up after the attack last summer. That group could include other teens, parents, school officials and coaches for the high school's beloved football team, which has won nine state championships.

After the guilty verdict, the victim's mother rebuked Mays and Richmond:
"You were your own accuser, through the social media that you chose to publish your criminal conduct on."

Maybe - but I have always been of the view that the badness has to be in there for the drink to bring it out.

I cant say I understand social media all that well as I use pie and that's about it. All this tweeting and facebooking is something I just do not get. The fact is though their are wicket and bad boys and men in the world always has been and always will be. All folks can do it do what they can to help the law bring them to justice. Whether drink is involved or in other cases maybe drugs, well I tend to view those things as an excuse used for defence teams in court they may play their part, but who is to say the plan was not put in to action by some stone cold sober guy at the start. Fact is some time guys are just plain wicket to the core and will do as they please.
