Default Locals 2014 and proposed area changes??

With local elections fast approaching, a reduced number of seats and changes to local area boundaries whats in store for Leitrim 2014?

How many boundaries will there be?
How will geographical change effect sitting councillors?
Will there be any new faces in terms of candidates?
Any current councillors to not run again?
Will Enda Stenson hold his unbelievable vote?

This should be a fairly broad discussion as there is so much scope for change
    hahahaha

I thought the boundary proposals submitted to the boundary committee were quite interesting on many levels:
    1. There is no formal proposals from either Fianna Fáil or Sinn Féin.
    2. All the proposals that were submitted show a preference for 3 six seater areas.
    3. I thought it was particularly interesting that the FG councillors and the supposedly Independent Enda Stenson had the exact same proposal word for word. Wonder who actually drafted the proposal?
    4. Was disappointed the council itself did not make a submission, but that was somewhat inevitable as many of the options and proposals would directly impact on sitting councillors.
5 Was surprised that no-one favoured or proposed a 2 district option, maybe a North Leitrim/South Leitrim with 9 seats apiece or even a 8 /10 seat divide in favour of South Leitrim and it's larger population and vital towns.
    6. I think FG were clearly more worried about the division of boundaries than FF, who will probably come out of this the best.
    hahahaha

leitrim only needs about 5 or 6 county councillors for a population of just over 30,000, 18 councillors is still far too many.

County Councils should be done away with, put in regions and merge all services, we will say put four or five counties together one manager like wise on roads water ect.

In fairness, the proportions in other countries are either similar or higher.
