Default The Frontline 7/1/2013 @ 22:35: Negativity and politics

Are you the public and the media too negative about politicians?

Tonight, Pat Kenny is joined by Pat Rabbitte, Labour TD, Minister for Communications to discuss negativity and politics.

Pat Rabbitte - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It will be … erm, how shall I say … interesting hearing the Minister lecturing the Irish people as to why he shouldn't be lambasted through social media when he lies to the Irish people.
During an edition of The Week in Politics broadcast in December 2012, presenter Seán O'Rourke asked Rabbitte if he had broken any campaign promises. Rabbitte said, "Isn't that what you tend to do during an election?"
In studio Pat discusses the "constant denigration of politics" with the help of:

Dan Boyle, Director Green Foundation https://twitter.com/sendboyle
Brenda Power, Sunday Times and Irish Daily Mail columnist https://twitter.com/thebrendapower
    Harry Browne, DIT Lecturer https://twitter.com/harrybrowne
    Larry P. Donnell, NUI Galway

Also can we see green shoots of economic recovery and will we feel the effects? Minister Rabbitte stays to debate with

    Should be a good one.

We can play a drinking game with this.

Every time ''faceless'' is mentioned, take a sup of a drink. If P.ie gets a mention down it. If they name a poster by username, down someone else's pint.

While I agree that social media is full of cranks who think they have free reign to defame and act out their teenage fantasies, the amount of whinging politicians are going on with is ridiculous. Gods sake, no-one is going to pass a law which bans criticism of politicians, and we already have laws which address defamation and harassment. If they want to be able to speak freely to an adoring audience who hang on their every word, go back to teaching junior infants.

Plump Bunny - who recently commented that it is necessary to tell fibs to get elected, thinks that there is too much negativity in Irish politics.

What about his shifting statements concerning the issue of the Promisory note repayment ?

Or his various PR stunts since he got into office ?

Maybe if Plump Bunny gave the people some respect, they might not be so utterly p'd off with his antics and posturing !!!!
Coveney's ambition is the be Ireland's next EU Commissar and Ireland will pay a price as he builds his CV to position himself sufficiently loyal to the nEU empire.

BTW they should just roll with it and do a p.ie ticker tape feed along the bottom of the screen for the whole show.
