Default The flag representing the Irish rugby team

Since the Irish rugby team contains a large number of Ulster rugby players Ulster Rugby : News : Ten Ulstermen in Ireland squad for November Tests it is surely inappropriate that it should be represented by the ROI flag as this flag does not represent all the players in the team. In the past the flag has not been made a issue of presumably because the Ulster players were too gentlemanly to take offence at the Tricolour, or perhaps because they feared discrimination in selection for the team. However since the issue of flags has once again been made a live one by Sinners in Belfast with the connivance and support of the SDLP and Alliance this is surely a time when unionist politicians should be taking up this particular cudgel on behalf of the rugby players.

If the Union Flag flying in a UK city is deemed unacceptable because a proportion of the population do not accept it then why should the Tricolour be forced on Ulster rugby players and indeed the large number of supporters from Northern Ireland who follow the Irish rugby team? It is a flag which only represents the ROI and does not represent Northern Ireland.

Changing it to a general 'Irish flag' is fine by me. I just care that they win.
