    Default Kincora Scandal

I see that the Kincora Boys Home scandal surfaces in state papers today.

Millar discussed Kincora judicial inquiry with NIO - The Irish Times - Fri, Dec 28, 2012

In the light of recent lurid stories about abuse in UK care homes in the 1970s (Jimmy Saville, etc), this is a reminder of the story with the greatest whiff of conspiracy around it. MI5, Loyalist paramilitaries, politicians, etc were all rumoured to be tied into the affair but nothing ever came to light.

While O Fiaich had never met the DUP leader, Armstong had and informed the official that Dr Paisley had asked him to join him in a deputation to the Secretary of State to discuss the Kincora sex scandal.

Figg recorded that the archbishop had turned Paisley down on RUC advice. This had resulted in "two of Paisley's aides making atrocious telephone calls to the archbishop personally."
The Armstrong referred to was CoI Archbishop of Armagh at the time.

A short but damning article from Private Eye, back when it was a decent investigative mag:

Kincora was the exact same as Dunblane
