Default #VINB Mon 17/12/2012: Welfare in Seanad; Abortion; Newtown CT

Joe Higgins, ISP TD Dublin West, Leader Irish Socialist Party Joe Higgins - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Leo Varadkar, FG TD Dublin West, Minister for Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ding Dong Merrily On High is the carol for tonight’s #VINB. How else can you describe a show which for the most part will have just two panellists. The meeting of a Minister with a leader of an opposition party is not something you see every night on the #VINB show. Mind you, the Minister isn’t at the top of the pack; neither is Joe as he’s the sole TD of his party in the Dáil.

Anyway, it’s Christmas-time. Time to wind-down and try to relax a bit. So enjoy the ding-dong between Leo and Joe as they discuss the Social Welfare Bill in Seanad and the Cabinet decision on the expert group report on abortion …. Remember, you two boys, this is the season of goodwill.

The second part of the show should also be of interest - maybe more so - with a major focus on the shooting at Newtown, Connecticut last week.

I wonder whether Vinnie the Sh1t will go after Joe Higginz about the SP leader's allowance tonight.

Last week he slagged off Gilmore and Kenny over them holding onto the part of the leaders allowance relating to the TDs that had resigned their party whip, but he omitted to mention L Ron Higgins holding to Clare Daly's share of the SP Leader's allowance. In the interests of balance he should have a go at L Ron tonight over this - but he won't.

I'd be surprised if Vinny didn't ask him about it. Don't think it's just going to be a love-in between Joe and Vinny tonight. We'll see ...

Probably not - Vinnie hates rival oxygen thieves - and when it comes to oxygen, few TDs consume more than L Ron Higginz.
