Default Bizarre Objection to Canadian Monument.

    Canadian women

While I find myself frequently agreeing with feminist objections, and am interested in Iconography, I think this is nonsensical.

Their release said “Given that monuments are permanent, this imbalance will perpetuate into the future the fallacy of Irish women’s unequal contribution to Canada.

They said the “central upright focal point ten feet high” is “such conventional phallic symbolism”. They state that vertical monuments elsewhere have been moved away from for this reason.
That said, there is room for a lot of research into the experience in the various destinations of the female emigrants from Ireland - but protests like this just damage the feminist cause.

They have little to be worrying about when they are coming up with rubbish like this. All skyscrapers are also phallic, in fact anything that sticks out of the ground could be construed as phallic. Maybe we should all go back to living in caves, they were after all more representative of women's bits and bobs.

This idiocy is precisely the reason why feminism hasn't fulfilled its objectives. The real equality agenda is lost in a plethora of meaningless campaigns and malicious agendas.

The phallus has been used in public monuments since the time of ancient Egypt.
The Celtic cross is as much an Irish national symbol as it is a religious symbol.
The Star of David has a similar function for the Jewish people.
So these feminist loons need to be told to get a life.

The monument looks as if it will be surprisingly tasteful. Simple and dignified.

That is not to say that the story of the women should be ignored.

Indeed. The monument looks tasteful and in keeping with Irish monuments. The story of the women is a different and seperate issue though.

This is nothing but a subtle blind for your partitionist agenda displaying a map of the border dividing Ireland in a foreign country in order to legitimatize your position.
